JUTE Theatre – Season Program and Production 1
The JUTE Theatre Company celebrated 20 years in 2012 and wanted to develop a digital season program with a celebratory theme. Taking a common birthday icon, balloons!, the designers sourced a retro image using pastel colours, and complemented it with a typeface that reflected JUTE Theatre’s creative endeavours and milestones.
Complementing JUTE Theatre’s 20th birthday, the first production for 2012 celebrated love. At Sea, Staring Up is a sweeping story of five lives across three continents. Filled with five ordinary people caught in heroic acts of love, this epic tale surprises and delights with magical leaps of imagination. Hot Croc developed a creative concept exploring hues of blue and graphical elements that were reflective of the individual stories and icons within the play. The play would appeal to literature readers and a typewriter, ye’olde typeface was selected to appeal to the audience and set the tone. An image was sourced, cropped and photoshopped to stand on top of images of books, creating a sense of story-telling and magic. When you look at this poster, you will think love, beauty and hope, you will think poetry, luscious words and story, the heroic things we find ourselves doing for love.
